How can I make sense of the Bible and different religious teachings?

I have heard that people made their own religions so they can praise and worship what they want and their morals, but one of the most important commandments is that we should only look up to one God, and one God only. That is him who created us. A lot of the times I had difficulty reading the Bible because I could fully understand it, I got a different types of bibles that helped me analyze what it was saying. This is when I found the importance of going to church, our pastor reads a verse and explains line by line what God is trying to say to us. It helps me a lot with knowing what God is trying to tell me because he speaks to me through the pastor, it’s not the pastor who’s preaching, it’s the holy spirit within him trying to communicate to us through him, he is just the messenger/translator. Going to church is not about the people or because it’s an obligation, it’s to hear God’s word, to learn about him, to teach us how we can spread his word, I learned that it is a privilege to go to church and have him speak to me because he is helping me be a better person for him.
